Without being too dramatic, yoga saved my life. I used to use exercise as a weapon- pushing myself to crazy limits with wild routines, constantly chastising myself when I didn’t reach the 'goal'. And then one day my body told me (screamed at me) that enough was enough and it started to stop working!
I panicked and I did what any rational, exercise obsessed injured person does, and I tried to find a different exercise! lol.
Luckily for me this was yoga, and slowly but surely over the years it has gone from yet another weapon, to a physical practise, to a spiritual one and I feel so lucky I found the mat.
What I hear daily is people wishing they had learnt yoga years ago in school as a tool for stress management and self-belief. With this in mind, i use my theatre education background to lead and built empowering yoga programs for children and young girls, helping the next generation tread lightly and with love- for themselves and the world they are inheriting.
Yoga is so many things- it can be joyful, hard work and uplifting. It can make you cry (we’ve all cried in a dharma talk admit it!), it can make you smile, and in my case, it can change your life. Whatever it is to you, I hope you love it as much as I do ❤️
