Do girls need empowering?
Its hot topic at the moment isnt it, empowerment. Especially when it comes to women.I see everyday incredible stories of women reclaiming there power after having it stripped from them and equally incredible stories of more and more women using their exqusite power to bring everyone up with them. I think we can agree, that whilst there is still progress to be made it's an incredible time to be alive for all women.
However it's actually not the women i have popped into talk about, its the girls that are yet to become them.
I often contemplate what else i would have loved to have been taught as a girl. Things that i would have loved to have talked about, explored or simply been surround by as i grew up in those precious pre teen - teen years. Things that would have supported me to grow with a greater confidence into a world that would spend a lot of time telling me to be many other things then myself.
Because it can right? from instagram perfection, to not daring to show your real face but use snapchat filters, to airbrushed magazine covers to political headlines that rarely fall in the favour of the female. If not managed, talked about, explored the power of our social media age has the ability to do harm and seperate us when i believe it can actually be used as a magnificent tool to heal and bring us together.
Let's empower our girls
So in light of the current social media revolution myself and kids yoga teacher Emily Beale wanted to create something to work with it and something that taught our girls to do the same. Because we can complain about, reminize about 'when we were girl' or we can grow with it and choose to instead empower our children to do the same.
Girls Empowered day workshop - Saturday November 3rd, 11am-4pm - Girls aged 11yrs-16yrs - $79
Allow me to introduce you to.
With that i introduce to the INCREDIBLE day workshop, girls empowered. Exploring topics such as 'i am enough' reminding us of this very fact whether other people are shining bright and standing tall or throwing stones and trying to pull us down. Our worth/ our enoughness never changes. To subjects such as 'how did i fail today' discussing the fact that failure is a part of life, it is a part of growing, learning, and instead lets frame them as empowering mistakes that without we wouldn't be evolving. To a personal favourite ' sucessfully me' a subject that teaches how we can ALL shine, that we can ALL stand tall and bring forth our gifts, pulling apart the labels that we often here of being 'too much', 'big headed' and reminding us blowing out someone elses light doesn't make yours burn any brighter. Lets instead champion our sisters and support us all to be successfully who we are.
Now do you see why this course has been dubbed 'the course that every woman wished existed when she was young'?
Our goal is to empower each girl who joins us, to empower her to know herself/love herself and confidently be herself out there in the world.
